THERE ARE 94 MILLION TEACHERS AROUND THE WORLD*

BY 2030, 69 MILLION ADDITIONAL TEACHERS MUST BE RECRUITED TO ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION*

Few other industries have jobs in every country, language, and region across the globe. The demand for teachers is on a scale that is little understood and rarely acknowledged*

TEACHING LICENSURE DATA

We commissioned a study to look at the process of initial licensure of teachers in every country in the world and we want to make that data available to researchers and policy advocates everywhere. You can find each country's requirements as well as contact information for government officials responsible for teacher licensure.

A GLOBAL TEACHING LICENSE

"A global teaching license is a critical first step in ensuring effective and forward looking teaching and learning for all students. Through their research and advocacy, FTI will work to ensure that this credential secures the trust and endorsement of educators, policymakers, and ultimately, the general public."

- Charlotte Danielson

"In the developing world, education provides a pathway for improving the social and economic conditions of its citizens. Obtaining a global teaching license would be a game changer for the teachers who are eager to validate their skillset and the countries that are prepared to raise the bar and reimagine what instruction looks like in the 21st century."

- Jean-Louis Ikambana

“As someone who has traveled to 109 countries and taught history and literature in Japan, Egypt, and China, I understand the immediate and direct impact a global teaching license will have on the education sector.  Credentials matter, both in terms of signaling to potential employers that one is qualified to teach and also in helping prepare teachers for the real-life challenges of teaching."

- Adam Carter
